A sarpanch allegedly died by hanging himself in his house in north Kashmir district of Bandipora on Tuesday, official sources said.
Thirty-five-year-old sarpanch, identified as Javid Ahmad Dar, was found hanging at his house at village Zurimanz, Bandipora this morning.
He was rushed to a hospital where the doctor declared him brought dead.
Police have registered a case and initiated proceedings. The actual cause of his death was being ascertained.
